Lawrence Stewart Braden
received his B.A. degree in mathematics from the
University of California at Berkeley and his M.A.
from Harvard. He graduated with honors from both
universities. Awarded the Woodrow Wilson
Fellowship, he did further graduate work at
Princeton University. Mr. Braden, a recipient of
the Presidential Medal for Excellence in Science
and Mathematics Teaching, has taught math and
science for over thirty years in Hawaii, Russia,
and the U.S. He has served as an A.P. Mathematics
Reader for the Educational Testing Service, a
book reviewer for The Mathematics Teacher and
TheAmerican Scientist, and is coauthor of the
Fordham Foundation Report on State Mathematics
Standards. He has served also as a commercial
airline pilot and as a consultant to the U.S.
Navy on torpedoes. Mr. Braden currently teaches
at St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire.
For the last eight summers he has taught at the
St. Thomas Review in Houston, Texas. |

Andrew Holt Browning received
his B.A. degree in English from Princeton
University and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from
the University of Virginia. He has served as
chairman of the English department and summer
school director at Iolani School in Honolulu,
Hawaii, as admissions director for St. Albans
School, Washington, D.C., as a member of the
Secondary School Admissions Test Board, and as a
lecturer in advanced composition at George Mason
University. Mr. Browning is a recipient of the
Achievement Award from the National Council of
Teachers of English and has been a Virginia
Governor's Fellow. He has served on the Council
on Basic Education as a National Endowment for
the Humanities Fellow. Mr. Browning taught S.A.T
review courses at St. Albans School and Iolani
School for twelve years. For the last eight
summers he has taught at the St. Thomas Review in
Houston, Texas. |
