I have had dogs my entire life (45 years to date). I have had everything from wolf-mixes to golden retrievers. I have to admit that the best dog I personally ever had was a Newfoundland, but I would never submit a dog of that kind to Houston heat and humidity again. I have had 3 Rhodesians (all rescues) while living in Houston and am firmly sold on them as family pets and constant companions. These dogs can take a variety of conditions, are loyal by nature (they make sure to come home with me . . . something I was never sure about with a golden!!) and have some of the most comical characteristics imaginable (countersurfing and frowning immediately come to mind). As time goes on I will put in some pictures of the dogs that went before (click here), but for now here are a few of "Josh the Jewish wonderdog".  Also, here is a link to some of our recent Ridgeback fosters.
